DUTIES

As part of a team, applies engineering science and technology, mathematics, and engineering economics knowledge to civil engineering projects, reporting to a Professional Civil Engineer and Project Management Professional.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.

  • Test soil or material to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt or steel.

  • Estimate quantities and cost of material, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.

  • Direct engineering activities, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations.

  • Generate long range plans, survey reports, maps, Engineering plans and other data to plan and design projects.

  • Prepare pre-application conferences to cities and counties submittals.

  • Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors during the planning and risk-analysis stages of a project.

  • Compile and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies, verifying that projects comply with various regulations.

  • Attend seminars and courses for continuing education as the company grows.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; and 6 months civil engineer internship, to include:

 

  • Demonstrated basic design experience in CAD software: Autodesk, CAD Civil 3D, & Revit.

  • Demonstrated experience with MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

  • 1 course through university or private training in map creation software: ESRI ArcGIS.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license to perform site visits. (Travel up to 30% of the time. Travel involves brief business trips to project sites, primarily (but not only) day trips to locations in both Washington state and Oregon, with occasional business trips to employer’s offices in Minneapolis and Duluth, MN.)
