ALBERTA ALIVE

Windsor was contracted to provide MEP engineering for Alberta Alive, an affordable housing development in Portland's historic King neighborhood. Windsor designed innovative energy-efficient systems to create healthy, comfortable living spaces for families and veterans. The project consisted of 51 total living units in two separate buildings.
The project featured a central heat pump water heater system with pre-heated water storage, high-performance building envelope with specialized insulation and window treatments, and efficient lighting with digital controls. Through energy modeling and early collaboration, the design achieved projected annual savings of over 212,000 kWh.
This award-winning project was completed in partnership with Self Enhancement Inc., Access Architecture, and Colas Construction, with support from Energy Trust of Oregon. Alberta Alive received a 2024 Top Projects award from Daily Journal of Commerce Oregon for its innovative design and community impact.
